They stared at us very carefully but decided against it. I think they were fascinated by the tile.

I have no idea how I missed this when it came out.

Seattle weather has been so bad lately that it’s been throwing chickens out of their yards.

Meanwhile, in Ballard, a rather unexpected storm victim was recovering: a hen. Shannon Christiansen found the wet and injured animal in her neighbor’s yard.

“Our neighbors don’t have chickens and she wasn’t one of our chickens, so we knew that she was lost and we figured the storm picked her up and blew her away from home,” Christiansen said.

The friendly hen is now a guest in her guest room. She became quite a hit on social media Monday after they posted pictures of the hen while searching for her owner.

Luckily there’s a happy ending here in the comments.

Sometimes they just really, really want eggs.

For some reason one of the new Backup Chickens has started hiding when it’s time for bed. After three nights of this I happened to be walking by a tree in the backyard when I heard offended bawking from up high.

See likes to sleep overnight in the tree! Silly chicken, that won’t stop raccoons when you’re hung over.

I caught all three of the new chickens on top of the fence today, just hanging out.

Look who came home with us!

We picked up more chickens today from a friendly woman in Renton. They’re very shy and quiet. Tentative names: Backup Chicken, Hot Spare Chicken, and Parity Bit Chicken.

They’re staying in the old coop for a few weeks until we’re sure they’re healthy and won’t infect the other chickens.

Betsy and I bought an Eglu Cube from Omlet. It is absolutely ridiculous how nice it is.

Now if we could just get them to realize they’re supposed to go in there and sleep. Poor Business Chicken laid her egg underneath it today instead, which you can see as the blue thing in the first photo.

This website is amazing. They are the fanciest chickens ever.
